Playing Chess With The Gatekeepers
Part of my gatekeeping series, this painting on watercolour paper with Golden acrylics references greek mythology. I envisage a modern day protagonist, confronting those who seek to exclude women and staging them as protectors of women and their rights. I depict the conflict between the protagonist and the gatekeepers as a game of chess, the ultimate battle of strategy. It feels like women are fighting a battle to win or retain hard fought for rights, and that a complex strategic plan is needed to overcome these obstructive powers.
