For the love of gold
Gold mining is one of the most destructive industries in the world and yet this rare metal, that has very little industrial or practical use, is mined relentlessly for its monetary value to the few who can afford it.
What’s left behind is waterways poisoned with arsenic, lead, mercury, acids and cyanide that the local communities are forced to live or die with.
This has gone on throughout history and I think it shows the most base and ignorant trait in mankind. Greed for riches that others cannot afford and the power that money brings with no thought to the destruction of other’s habitat.
