Bel Pye

Statement

I began my journey in the visual arts as a participant of Project Ability’s ReConnect programme. I originally moved to Glasgow to study at drama school, but when chronic illness restricted by ability to perform I found I could still channel my creativity thanks to the wonderful staff at Project Ability. I often work with textiles, creating sculptures that can be explored through touch as well as sight. Recently my practice has expanded to include 2D formats, and I am delighted that my love of movement can be translated into ink, pen and paint. I hope to continue exploring where my body-based performance practice can meet 2D visual art forms.
