The Lying Tongue
Pollok Witch Hunt
6 innocent people were sent to trial, found guilty and 5 were executed on the say of one person.
Words have power, be they written or spoken. Janet Douglas, a mute servant found not only the power of speech to accuse, wrongly, but she could also speek and read English, Latin and Greek.
When this sad story came to an end the Lord was dead of illness, 5 innocent lives were taken, one life was imprisoned and the 'Witchfinder' disappeared. Years later she reappeared in Edinburgh and tried again, but she herself was accused and sentenced to the colonies. Did she go? No evidence. But an unfounded tale that in the early 1690's she found herself near a small village called ........Salem.
