Portrait of my grandmother in her apartment in Poland, S?upsk. Working from a cool toned grey reference I decided to add colour and warmth playing with patterns and textures. 'Daj to tutaj' translates to 'Give it here' from Polish to English, pointing to the interaction and focal point of the painting being my dress which I had torn and my grandmother grabbed from my hands to fix. The painting hints at family, love, joy, care and laughter. I share a deep bond with my grandmother hence the warmth and playfulness in the painting.
