So I Look Back Upon My Life
This artwork is a depiction of a scene from the British TV drama It's a Sin, which explores the lives of young people during the '80s and '90s who moved to London to start a new life, only to be struck down by AIDS, resulting in the fear, stigma, and discrimination that so many people were subjected to during this time. I want to do my part as a gay, autistic artist to help promote tolerant attitudes and end discrimination to LGBTQIA+ including those who are neurodiverse and to show love from my own perspective as a gay neurodiverse artist. It's my belief that LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse people deserve to be seen, heard, and validated in artworks, and society has come a long way to make people like me feel able to live openly and feel accepted. I used a palette of rainbow colours along with a few sparkly embellishments for added pop.
