'Neon Pink' is a poetry poster containing text from 'the girl with the luminous shoes'. I wrote the poem after having a particularly bad day, the poem states 'neon pink bled into the gutter' this was literally the colour of the shoes I was wearing, but also metaphorically representing dreams and hopes for the future. The protagonist in the poem takes control and instead of letting her mental health slip away into the gutter, she 'started walking backwards/all the way/absorbing colour/as she went'. She decides to take control of her own narrative, reclaiming her identity, so it's a positive and uplifting ending to the poem.
