Croft No.4: An Aural explores residues of the past that linger into the present around a croft in Sutherland in the North of Scotland by tuning into the sounds of the surrounding environment.
Themes of migration, movement, different seasons, connectivity, communication, agriculture, advancing technologies, climate change, clearances, the otherworld, war, forestry, injustice and enchantment emerged during excavations of the landscape.
This sonic artefact features voices of the past, present and possible futures. Fragments of found sounds, reimagined sounds, spoken word, song, music and oral histories interact across time and place in an assemblage underpinned by the ever-present sound of water.
