St Andrew's Bay Hotel has been a family favourite for many years. We have visited it many times and loved the open views over the North Sea and across the Bay to St Andrews. During Lockdown, I started painting large open skies as I began to crave the freedom of being outdoors. We are so lucky to have such variable clouds in Scotland, with our ever changing weather. Over the past 10 years, my work was predominantly iconic landmarks. I am now intergrating both the landmarks and large Scottish skies. This large scale piece has a strong visual impact with the large cloudscape. The sky is painted gesturally with large brushstrokes. This contrasts to the delicate skyline of St Andrews with its historic buildings.
