This painting is of an old coal fire and mantlepiece, commonly seen in homes in the 1940s/50s and 60s. There's a rolled up newspaper burning in the flames depicting an incident of a child falling into the fire a d being badly burned. The inspiration behind this piece is my mum. She is the little girl in the article who got badly burnt at her home in Paisley, in February 1955. Oil on Canvas.
