Clamshell on Portobello Beach
One of the things I love to explore in my work is viewpoints. For this painting, I was out for a walk on Portobello beach in January not long after New Year. It was a sunny day with the golden light you get in Winter with low sun. There were lots of clamshells washed up on the beach and I took photographs at a low viewpoint so you can see all the detail. It gives you a view of the beach too that is more unusual than the one we usually look from.
