Sunday Reading
Visiting the Norman Gilbert exhibition at the Tramway inspired me to make this painting. I loved his vivid colours, unique patterns everywhere and very familiar faces in domestic scenes. I wanted to capture the moment of my sister and me in our living room in Glasgow. I also put in my Greek background on the tablecloth with blue and white stripes that represent the Greek flag as well as the meandros (Greek spiral pattern). I loved painting this as it was complex and had lots of intricate details with stepped me out of my artistic comfort zone. With this painting, I hope to keep this happy memory of my childhood alive.
