Statement
Ross McKay is a watercolour artist living and working in the south west of Scotland. My principle interest has been in portraiture but working on these is no longer possible because of my recent loss of vision, which has been reduced by 80%. My condition allows me to see distance but not what is close to me, so now I am restricted to painting landscapes mostly. Using mirrors in my studio also allows me to imitate a feeling of distance so that, in turn, some other subjects might be tackled.
