Statement

I am very interested in colour - Most of my handwoven woven tapestries are influenced by small gouache and ink paintings I make - I love the way the colour pools as it dries creating pockets of intense colour within a composition. I love weaving colour and using colour mixes on the bobbin in many shades to produce the effect I'm looking for. I often use a coloured warp which I often leave exposed at either end of the piece of work so that colour if flowing through the tapestry and is literally the 'heart and soul' of the tapestry.

As well as my own studio practice I have woven in professional studios - I have woven on large projects such as the Stirling Castle Tapestries and am currently a part time  Master weaver at The Dovecot Tapestry Studios in Edinburgh.
