Statement
Margaret Fraser graduated 2012 with a BA HONS in Visual Art. My process consists of looking, drawing photographing and collecting source material from my environment and creating drawings and sculptures. These may attract my attention by their presence, different surfaces, how they may me feel, or simply the shapes and outlines I see within them. My major source comes from every day life or my urban surroundings. I work mainly in drawing and sculpture creating life like or abstract works that create a presence in the physical space they inhabit. I’ve found myself over time looking more closely at the emotion an object can convey and try to capture whats being expressed through eye contact or body language rather than word or physical contact. The two pieces I’m submitting are images of dogs, not typical portraits they convey two very different emotions, patience and distinction. Moments captured like a photograph but expressed in the drawn line.
