My trademark subject matters are dramatic sky and seascapes, always in bold colour.

In keeping with its nature, I paint in heavy body acrylics, ideally on larger canvas for impact.

I am drawn to the ever-changing mood and tone of the shores of Scotland’s West coast for inspiration. Its pulling power continues to influence me.

While the creative process itself is a joy, to be able to share this experience with others through a painting, is a unique and emotive experience.

Growing up on Glasgow’s Southside, working in the city centre, I was surrounded by high rise office buildings so when I moved to the Isle of Bute in 1999, the impact of expansive sea and sky triggered something in me. Twice daily ferry trips helped provided regular fuel to stoke the fire of creativity. Experiencing a difficult time in my personal life back then, I realised the therapeutic, healing power of the environment.

Living in a coastal location was an immersive experience creating a bank of emotions I have drawn on ever since.

I am mostly self-taught, also attended part time courses at Glasgow School of Art, Strathclyde University and Artist lead workshops.
