Statement
I’m an artist based in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland. I studied Art & Design at college, but as with many people, life got in the way of my dreams of pursuing a creative career and I ended up with a series of ‘proper jobs’. My practice takes inspiration from our characterful coastline and countryside. Throughout the year you’ll often find me seeking further creative ideas, while on ventures in my motorhome. Our Scottish scenery is always a draw and I enjoy nothing more than capturing a stunning sunset or dramatic seascape. Soft pastels are one of my favourite mediums and I love producing work that combines the smooth texture of pastels with gouache underpaintings. More recently I’ve been exploring the textures and qualities of acrylics and mixed media with the development of semi abstract works.
