Eilidh Mitchell

Statement

Eilidh Mitchell is a wildlife artist from the outskirts of Glasgow, specialising in soft pastel animal portraiture. Eilidh endeavours to infuse her drawings with the soul and character of her subjects. She enjoys the challenge of realism while embracing the freedom to experiment with different techniques and effects. Eilidh began as a pet portrait artist in 2019 and branched into wildlife art and larger cat profiles during the pandemic. In 2021, her portrait of a fruit bat earned her a place as a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. That same year, her portrait of a fishing cat was included in the Sketch for Survival Highly Commended collection. Since 2022, she has been selected to exhibit at the annual Exhibition of Wildlife Art in The Wirral. In 2023, she was selected for The Artist and Leisure Painter exhibition at Patchings. In 2023 and 2024, she has been selected for the The Artist and Leisure Painter Highly Commended online exhibition. Her pastel cat drawing 'Purrfection' was featured in the June 2024 edition of The Artist magazine.
