Kim Appleton is an artist and framer based in Glasgow. Kim paints predominantly landscapes, usually abstracted to their elemental colours and textures. She uses a variety of media in her work and the surface and pigment or medium is her subject, using the scene or the object as a conduit to explore the medium so that the image will slowly appear through the layers of paint.
Endlessly inspired by the wonderful Scottish scenery that lies on my doorstep, I paint predominantly landscapes, abstracted to their elemental colours and textures. I use a variety of media in my work, the materials I use and pigment I paint with is my subject, I use the scene or the object in front of me as a conduit to explore the medium and the subject will slowly appear through the layers of paint.
