Statement

I started painting in primary school going to an art class in Paisley & entered the museum competition they ran in the summer which I won in 1982 at the age of 12. After I left school I never painted focusing on my career as a joiner & making the occasional marquetry for a hobby.
About 8 years ago my wife bought a set of oils for my Christmas which got me going again . I’ve mainly stuck to painting scenes of Scotland. My style is very detailed probably from my job( finishing joinery) & the time taken to make a marquetry .
I had an exhibition in Cass art ( Glasgow ) last May selling 5 pieces & the owner of McGregor fine arts came along & took some for his shop & so far has sold 2.
I have around a dozen paintings which are in bubble wrap in my loft so it be great to get some on show .
