Statement

My current work frequently introduces the influence of weather, seasons and the time of day as an important element of the subject matter of the picture.

Working from life is vital to the processes of picture making. This often sits alongside pictorial introductions worked from memory  and or imagination.

I build my own canvases from scratch using Belgian linen which I stretch, size and prime in my studio. I use traditional techniques and materials for this process. I hand finish my frames.

I believe that all of this contributes positively to the final effect of the painting.
