Statement

In today’s society individuals across all genders take immense pride in the uniform symmetry of their lives and find great comfort in their terrain of order. It is this sense of regularity where the inconsistency of our contemporary society lurk. Each of my artworks are an examination of these varied social irregularities and chaos of our social world. As an artist, my aim is to create visually appealing pieces dominated by bold yet varied colours, patterns and designs that portray my Indian heritage, all the whilst providing a powerful social message. My purpose is to vivisect the preordained social norms and to reveal their spurious foundation that has long been aimlessly ensued. Hence, within the space of frame each of my artworks are meant to be analysed, because symbolism is abundant in them. I am conscious that my work doesn't strictly fit into the framework of Western art and this is what potentially distinguishes me from other artists. Nevertheless, the crux of the matter is that our knowledge and society is ever changing, and therefore, each piece I create is respectively an extension of myself – where I have come from, what I have learned, and what I want from it.
